Our Story
North Shore Contracting’s journey is a story of hard work, determination, and a drive to build something great.
It all started with a $2,500 backhoe — a gamble Ted Dubicki (Founder) took while working full-time in HVAC. What began as a side gig — digging trenches and doing small jobs on weekends — quickly turned into something more. Each job led to the next, and soon, Ted took a bold leap, leaving his steady career to chase his passion for construction, to operate heavy equipment, and to become part of the earth-moving industry.
Ted relied on grit and determination to teach himself the trade — learning on-site, asking questions, and mastering every step through trial and error. Mistakes became lessons; over time, that relentless drive turned North Shore Contracting into a trusted name on Long Island.
Today, with over 35 years of experience, North Shore Contracting has grown from one machine and a dream into a company known for delivering solid results in excavation, drainage, and demolition.

But what makes this story even stronger is the family behind it. Ted’s son, a civil engineer student, working alongside him— learning the trade, running machines, and helping to build the next chapter of the business. Meanwhile, Ted’s daughter, now in college studying business, is preparing to find her role in the company — ensuring that North Shore Contracting’s legacy continues for years to come.
